It is performed in an isolated location where explosives are bonded together.
A high-intensity explosion is ignited in the center.
The detonation rate is specified for each, and the detonation travels away from the initial point and across the surface of the Plate.
It is determined by the velocity and angle of impact at which the Clad sheet collides with the base plate.
The pressure created at the closest adjacent surface is sufficient to cause thin layers of metal to be removed and ejected as a jet of metal.
A thin macro fusion layer resembles a wavy welding line.
At this crucial point, the newly created clean metal surface impacts at several GPAs of pressure to force the metals into intimate contact. At the same time, the metallurgical weld solidifies across the entire surface.
Heat cannot transfer from the explosive detonation to the metal despite the large amount of heat it generates. As a result, an ideal metal-to-metal bond is formed without melting or diffusion.
As a result of explosion bonding, a high-integrity metallurgical bond is created and confined to a narrow area. They allow undisturbed the original metal structures, cold-working, dispersion, and precipitation hardening.
We claim that Explosion Bonding Process is a Cold Process, where inherited properties of Parent Materials are not disturbed or changed, except for developed Stress due to Cold Work which can be relieved by Heat Treatment (Stress Reliever).
