S31803 Duplex Bar is a type of steel containing 22% chromium, known as a duplex steel due to its combination of austenitic and ferritic microstructures. This composition results in a material with moderate to good strength and excellent resistance to general corrosion, stress corrosion, and cracking. It performs well in chloride environments and is resistant to sulphide stress corrosion. Compared to standard austenitic stainless steels, the S31803 Duplex Bar offers roughly double the strength.
This steel is a versatile option, serving as a suitable alternative to 300 series austenitic stainless steels in many applications where higher mechanical strength and lower weight are desired.
