Ratna exports is an authorized manufacturer & trader of SMO 254 Pipe Flanges, austenitic stainless steel with a high molybdenum content for various applications. As described in this paper, the physical properties of Alloy 254 Flanges (UNS S31254) are essentially equivalent. A 254 SMO Flange combines impact toughness, resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking, pitting and crevice corrosion, and strength that is twice as strong as the 300 series stainless steel flanges. The combination of copper and nickel in the 254 SMO Pipe Flanges makes them highly resistant to crevice and pitting corrosion, particularly in environments with halide ions, such as chloride and fluoride or bromide solutions. In these environments, alloy 254 Pipe Flanges may be a cheaper, more economical alternative to Nickel and Titanium alloys.
A flange can attach one pipe section to another in a piping and tubing system. Stainless Steel Grade 254 SMO Flanges are high-end austenitic stainless steel designed to handle high-impact toughness and highly corrosive environments. In addition to its excellent resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion, Grade 254 SMO also exhibits excellent corrosion resistance.

A wide range of applications is available for our high-quality Stainless Steel UNS S31254 Flanges, which are commonly used for flue-gas desulfurization, food processing equipment, desalination, heat exchangers, and saltwater handling equipment.
Due to the extremely high work hardening rate and the absence of sulfur content in stainless steel Grade 254 SMO Flanges, it can be challenging to machine them; however, sharp tools, powerful machine tools, positive feeds, sufficient lubrication, and slow speed are some of the best methods to machining this material. Because of the high nitrogen content in stainless steel, Grade SMO 254, Flanges have a much higher mechanical strength than most other austenitic stainless steels. It is also referred to as 6 Mo Pipe Flanges. This material has good weldability, high flexibility, and impact strength. In addition to serving as an auxiliary to SS 316L or SS 317L parts where pitting chloride SCC or crevice attacks have failed, 6 Mo Pipe Flanges are generally used as an auxiliary in dangerous components of superior constructions.
