Different between 316 and 316L.

Stainless steel grades 316 and 316L need to be annealed at temperatures between 1900 and 2100 degrees Fahrenheit before being quenched quickly.

Due to its extra carbon content, grade 316 stainless steel has higher strength and better corrosion resistance than grade 316L.

In projects that require a lot of welding, grade 316L is the best choice. Although grade 316 is more prone to weld decay than grade 316L, it is also an excellent stainless steel for corrosion and high temperatures, which makes it more popular for marine and construction projects.

A few benefits of stainless steel 316/316L washers include greater tensile yield strength, increased carbon content heat resistance, and more excellent short- and long-term creep resistance.
